Following recent police activity near Carmarthen railway station and the discovery of a man's body in an adjacent field on Saturday, January 10, we are reminding all residents and commuters to prioritise safety around railways.
While the investigation into this incident remains ongoing and is currently being treated as "unexplained," it serves as a sobering reminder of the hazards associated with railway environments.
❌ Stay Clear of Tracks: Never enter fields or areas directly adjacent to railway tracks unless they are designated public footpaths. Railway boundaries are often fenced for public protection; do not climb over or bypass these barriers.
🚸 Use Designated Crossings: Only cross railway lines at official footbridges, underpasses, or level crossings. Shortcut attempts are illegal and extremely dangerous.
Report Suspicious Activity: If you notice anything unusual near railway tracks, station perimeters, or secluded fields bordering the line, please report it immediately:
🚨 In an emergency: Call 999.
🚨 Non-emergencies: Call 101, or contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016.
Incidents of this nature can be distressing. If you have been affected by this news or are concerned about someone’s welfare, please reach out for support:
🧠 Samaritans: Call 116123 (anytime, for free).
🧠 C.A.L.L. Mental Health Helpline (Wales): Call 0800132737 or text ‘help’ to 81066.
Dyfed-Powys Police are continuing their enquiries. If you have any information regarding activity near the Carmarthen railway station area on the morning of Saturday, January 10, please contact the police directly. Our thoughts are with the family and their friends at this difficult time.
Stay alert, stay safe, and look out for one another.
